The Delta Gamma chapter of Kappa Delta Sorority was founded on March 27th, 1965, at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Since then we have continued to grow into a large, successful chapter. Our members participate in intramural sports, social events with other Greek and non-Greek organizations, and many other clubs and societies that WKU offers to its students. We are a diverse group of young women who take pride in our sisterhood and philanthropic events.
Our philanthropies include: Girl Scouts of the United States, Prevent Child Abuse America, the Confidence Coalition, and the Orthopedic Research Awards associated with the Children's Hospital of Richmond, Virginia.
Our chapter's biggest contribution to our community is our two biggest philanthropy events: Shamrock Shootout and Shenanigans. These two events are the second and third largest philanthropy events on WKU's campus. Shamrock Shootout is a basketball tournament held each spring. Every year over 60 teams compete in a 5-on-5 tournament to raise money for Prevent Child Abuse America and the Family Enrichment Center of Bowling Green. In the past two years, our chapter has been able to raise over $50,000 through Shamrock Shootout. In the fall our chapter hosts Shenanigans. Shenanigans is a themed dance competition that also helps our chapter raise money for Prevent Child Abuse America and the Family Enrichment Center of Bowling Green. Other Greek organizations pair up and choreograph an original dance that is performed in front of over one thousand spectators! In 2019, our Shenanigans event raised more than $22,000, which was donated to the Family Enrichment Center in Bowling Green, KY, and Prevent Child Abuse of America.
The Delta Gamma Chapter hosts events for the Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana during the school year such as activities that help educate the young girls on preventing bullying and healthy eating. We have our annual International Girl's Day carnival in which we invited the Girl Scouts to participate in crafts, games, and a petting zoo we hosted at our chapter house.
This fall, our chapter welcomed 46 new members into our circle. For more information, please check out the Facebook link below! Like our page to stay up to date on all things Delta Gamma.
